The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District welcomes you to Lake O' the Pines, located in Jefferson, Texas. Our mission: supply water to the North East Municipal Water District and their customers and to provide flood protection to Shreveport, Lousiana and the Red River, also to offer some of the best fishing, camping and boating in Texas.
During hunting season a number of the hunting road gates will be periodically closed. The roadways behind these gates are closed to vehicles to facilitate road repairs and salvage timber sale operations that need to be completed while the lake level is low. The gate closures do not render the areas closed to hunting by walk-in access. Scouting these areas the day before a planned hunt is recommended. In addition, hunters who need drive-in access should develop alternative plans in case a gate becomes closed between scouting and hunting. Hunting road users are also advised to park in adjacent hunter parking lots or just off of the road along its shoulders to facilitate access for roadwork and logging crews and to facilitate use by emergency vehicles if necessary. Parking a vehicle in front of a closed gate blocking the roadway is a violation of Corps policy and the vehicle is subject to being towed. Please remember to practice good sportsmanship and to follow hunter safety principles to assure a quality experience for everyone. If you're going to be hunting in and around, or travelling across water while hunting, remember to practice water safety and to wear your life jacket. The life saved could be yours! ******************************** Boaters are urged to use extreme caution while navigating the waters at Lake O' the Pines. Low lake levels due to drought conditions have surfaced natural hazards which are not normally present. Your safety is our concern. Please use extreme caution, operate within the elements, and always remember to wear your life jacket. ********************************
The Lake O' the Pines Office will be closed until further notice to the public. If you need assistance, please contact us at (903) 665-2336 or email Robert.D.Flowers@usace.army.mil. We appreciate your cooperation.
