How can I get a permit to build a boathouse on the lake?

New boathouse permits will not be issued for Grapevine Lake. A moratorium has been issued by the Fort Worth District on the building of new boathouses. You may purchase an existing authorized boathouse. If you wish to buy an authorized boathouse the boathouse must have recently passed an inspection conducted by the Grapevine Lake Office Park Rangers. In order to transfer ownership the buyer must submit a notarized bill of sale to the Lake Office and an inspection will be performed with the new owner. Upon passing inspection the new owner will be issued a shoreline use permit, good for 5 years, for the fee of $35 (which is subject to change under District policy). Boathouses on Grapevine Lake are for boat storage only . Boathouses will not include living quarters. Boathouses may be rebuilt upon Lake Office approval and must be built to the original footprint specifications or smaller. Boathouse designs that propose expansion, roof decks or living quarters will not be approved. Final design approval is determined by the Grapevine Lake Project Office. Boathouses may not be moved from their location. Electricity in boathouses is not included in the shoreline use permit and requires a separate license from Real Estate. For more information or for questions regarding boathouses please contact the Grapevine Lake Office or submit an email .

We encourage adult/parent participation but require that the Scout initiate the project and meetings.
