Developed Camping Areas

Waco Lake has 4 campgrounds:

Airport Park
Reynolds Creek Park
Midway Park
Speegleville Park

Waco Lake has RV, tent and group camping facilities. Camping is permitted in designated areas only. A complete copy of all rules and regulations can be obtained at each park and at the Waco Lake Office.

Not all campsites have easy access to the lake due to location or land constrictions.

Airport Park

Location

From I-35, take the Lake Shore Drive exit (Exit 339) and drive west to Steinbeck Bend Road. Turn right and proceed to second stop light. At the intersection with FM 1637 (China Spring Highway) turn right. Go to next stop light (Flat Rock Road). Turn left and drive approximately 1 mile to Skeet Eason Road. Turn left and drive about 0.5 mile. Airport Park is on the first road to the right.

Airport Park is on the northern banks of Waco Lake and is open year round. Airport Park has 46 sites with 50-amp electric and water hookups, and 22 of these also have sewer hookups. There are 8 screen shelters with electrical outlets and water. Fourteen tent-only campsites without electric are also available. A group camping shelter is available for reservation, and comes with electric, sewer and water hookups. It is equipped with a six-foot grill, 12-foot serving bar, and pavillion with picnic tables. There are eight campsites with electric and water hookups, and six of these have sewer hookups. The group camping area fits about 80 guests.

Day-Use Facilities

Airport Park has a two-lane boat ramp which can be accessed for day-use purposes. The fee to launch a boat is $5.00 per day, or visitors may purchase the USACE annual pass or one of the America the Beautiful Federal passes.

Overnight Group Camping Shelter

The shelter includes 6 campsites with electric/water/sewage hookups and 2 campsites with electric/water. This shelter is perfect for the large group camps. Click here for additional information

Reynolds Creek Park

Location

Formerly known as Speegleville I Park, Reynolds Creek Park is located on the west shore of the lake. From I-35, take exit 330B Hwy 6 N toward Meridian for about 7 miles. After passing over the Lake on the Twin Bridges, take the Speegleville Road exit (second exit after the bridges). Turn right on Speegleville Road. After 1 mile you will reach a 4-way stop. Continue straight on Speegleville Road for about 2 miles and park entrance will be on the right. The Reynolds Creek campground is closed for the season from October 1st to April 1st. The Equestrian camping sites remain available year-round.

Camping

Reynolds Creek has 41 campsites with water and electric hookups including 10 equestrian sites and 6 primitive/tent camping sites (no electricity or water). Day-use picnic sites are available on a first come, first serve basis. Equestrian camping is available year-round and regular camping is available from April 1-September 30. Day use and boat ramp are open year-round.

Midway Park

Location

Midway Park is located on the east shore of the South Bosque River. From I-35, take the exit for Hwy 6 N toward Meridian (330B) for about 5 miles. Immediately before crossing the lake, exit right at Midway Park Exit. At the exit, drive under the bridge and the park is a quarter-mile down the east-bound service road.

Camping

Midway park has 37 campsites and is open year round from 6:00am to 10:00pm. There are 32 sites with water and electric hookups, and 11 that also have sewer hookups. The campground has 5 tents sites. Other perks include hot showers, an accessible playground and a boat ramp.

Day Use Facilities

Midway Park has a two-lane boat ramp for launching boats. The fee for boat launching is $5.00 per day.

From Midway Park the Hwy 6 bridge can be seen as it spans over Waco Lake.

Speegleville Park

Location

Speegleville Park is located on the west shore of the lake. From I-35, take exit 330B Hwy 6 N toward Meridian for about 6 miles. After passing over the Lake on the Twin Bridges, take the first exit toward Waco Lake/Speegleville Park. Take a left on the access road. You will continue past the Twin Bridges Park about a quarter of a mile until you reach Overflow Road. Turn right on Overflow Road and drive for about 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance on the left.

Camping

The park is open March-October from 6:00am to 10:00pm. The park includes two screened shelters along with 30 campsites with water and electric hookups. The Park also includes a 4 lane boat ramp.
