As of 6am on the 9th of October 2020, Comal County put a county wide burn ban into effect.

Guadalupe Park and Power Plant Parking Areas CLOSED!

Starting Oct 14th, 2020 the US Army Corps of Engineers will be conducting an upgrade and repair of the stilling basin fence wall by the power plant and the Guadalupe Trail This repair process will close down all three adjacent parking lots.

No one will be able to access the fishing pier or Guadalupe Trail from those parking lots. At times South Acess road may also be closed temporarily in order to complete the repairs and upgrades safely. For more details please check out the news release link below. Repair could take as long as 30 days so please be patient.

ATTENTION

Recently there has been a tremedous amount of visitors to Canyon Lake. With high visitation numbers comes more litter. We have increased the number of collection locations. We ask that you PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT to reduce the litter on the ground. Bring your litter to the dumpster so the shore stays clean.

Always remember to Recreate Responsibly.

The following activities are ILLEGAL at Canyon Lake. Please refer to Title 36. Link provided HERE.

Illegal Activity Solution
Cliff Diving Swim in designated swim areas: Comal Park, Canyon Beach
Destruction of Public Property by LITTER Pack It In, Pack It Out. We provide trash receptacles in ALL park. Please use them.
Camping in areas not designated for camping like the shore and islands.

You MUST be in a designated park and campsite

Use RECREATION.GOV for Camping opportunities.

Consumption of Alcohol in Overlook Park Alcohol and water does not mix.

PLEASE PACK IN, PACK OUT all your trash.

COVID Related Closures

As a precaution for the COVID-19 situation, the following Lake and Park facilities are CLOSED to the public until further notice.

  Description Details
1 Canyon Lake Office Main office in Overlook Park
2 ALL Primitive Camping Parks North Park, Canyon Park
3 Group Areas All group pavilions for camping or day use are closed and will remain closed until further notice. When a park does open, the group areas in that the park will remain closed.

This may not include leased areas including the marinas, Jt Base San Antonio, Jacob's Creek Park, and Comal Park.

Contact the Leasee managing those areas to determine if they will be closing their facilities.

*As of yet this does NOT include local public ramps, but that may change.

Anyone found trespassing into a closed area will be asked to leave immediately.

 

Comal Park Under New Management

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers no longer manages Comal Park.

We still own the facilities, but Comal Park has been leased to WORD of Comal County.

14th Annual Rambler 120 Challenge Adventure Race

October 2020

Rambler 120 is designed as a team event to build esprit de corps among units, improve fitness levels and foster an enjoyment of the outdoors. Team members compete in a 22-mile bike ride, six-mile run, two-mile rafting trip and a mystery event announced the day of the race. The event is held at the Joint base San Antonio Recreation Park at Canyon Lake.
