Group Camping Areas

Mustang Park

The Group Shelter in the Mustang Point area of Mustang Park is available for either day use activities or overnight camping. It is located in the Mustang Point Day Use on the south side of the lake, and is accessible from CO 1042 (Winscott Plover Road) off of FM 1187.

Amenities include drinking water, large cooking grill, lights and 110 volt outlets for use until 10:00 p.m., and trash cans. A vault toilet is located nearby the shelter. Poles for a volleyball net are also provided. Shelter users have access to the Mustang Point swim beach. Accessibility for mobility-impaired is fairly good for this facility. There is parking for thirty vehicles and capacity for about 80 people.

The rental rate for the shelter is $125.00 per day, weekday or weekend, for either dayuse or camping. This shelter is available year-round.

For overnight camping, there are six individual water and electrical pedestal hookups. No additional camping fee is charged for use of these sites, beyond the regular shelter rental. If an overnight group has more than 80 people wishing to camp, additional individual camping in the park adjacent to the shelter is available for the regular $14.00 camping fee.

Bear Creek Campground

The Group Shelter in Bear Creek Campground in Mustang Park is for overnight camping only. It is located in the Bear Creek campground on the south side of the lake, and is accessible from CO1125 (Ben Day-Murrin Road) off of FM1187.

The rental rate for the shelter is $125.00 per day and allows use of the group facilities and the individual campsites. Amenities include a large pavilion, centrally located amidst six individual campsites. Each campsite has its own trailer pad with water and electric hookup, covered table, and cooker. The pavilion has large cooker, water, lighting and electrical outlets. The shelter is immediately adjacent to the shower and restroom facility in the north end of the campground. Capacity for this shelter is 50 people.

Reservations

Reservations for Bear Creek or Mustang Pavilions may be made through Recreation One Stop online or at 1-877-444-6777. No refunds for inclement weather will be made for group shelter reservations.

Discount Passes are not valid for group shelters unless the entire group is qualified for the discount, with the paying person responsible for having the proper card when payment is made.
