The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is the steward of the lands and waters located on its projects. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' guiding philosophy for natural resource management is to manage, conserve, and improve these natural resources while providing quality outdoor recreational opportunities.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages for long-term public access to the natural resources found on its projects. This effort is completed in concert with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as the private sector, to maximize benefit and enjoyment of its resources for all of its stakeholders.

Natural resource managers integrate diverse natural resource components, such as fish and wildlife, for the provision of public recreational opportunities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers focuses on conservation of natural resources to provide public recreational opportunities that contribute to an increased quality of American life, now and for posterity.
