Volunteer News and Events

  • Town Bluff Lake-Scout Service Project:

    On Sunday, 27 April 2014 and 17 May 2014, members from two Scout Troops worked with Park Rangers for a trash cleanup project. The scouts cleaned up the spillway and fishing areas by removing many feet of tangled fishing line and collecting over 20 pounds of trash.
  • Town Bluff Lake-Scout Service Project:

    On Saturday, 9 March 2013, 14 members of a local Cub Pack spent an hour trimming branches from trees lining the front of Magnolia Ridge Park.
  • Town Bluff Lake-Water Safety Program:

    On Wednesday, 9 May 2012 three project volunteers assisted Town Bluff ranger staff with water safety programs for 350 pre-k through 2nd grade students. Topics covered included the buddy system, wearing properly sized life jackes, and how to help someone in the water with reach, throw, row, go for help.
  • Town Bluff Lake-National Public Lands Day (NPLD):

    On Saturday, 24 September, 2011, Town Bluff Project hosted a River Campsite Clean-Up as part of National Public Lands Day. Seventeen volunteers donated 60 hours of their time to the clean up, with several driving 3+ hours to participate. All ten campsites were cleaned and trimmed up, with one picnic table and four new fire rings also being installed. Around 177 pounds of trash was picked up from the sites and surrounding areas.
  • Town Bluff Lake-Water Safety Programs:

    On 15 April 2011 and 6 May 2011, two project volunteers assisted Town Bluff ranger staff with various school water safety programs. 143 first-graders and 38 adults were present to learn about the buddy system, wearing properly sized life jackets and how to help a person in the water with reach, throw, row, don't go.
