Hunting at Lake Georgetown
The 1200-acre Hunt Holloww Wildlife Management area managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Georgetown is available for hunting by holders of small game and archery-only hunting permits. In addition, Archery-Only areas are available to archery permit holders. All hunting is closed from the last day of February to the beginning of dove season. All hunting except archery is closed during the archery season for deer set by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). All persons eligible to hunt within the State of Texas except employees of the Capital Regional Project Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and their family members are eligible to apply for permits.
Lake Georgetown Hunting Policy
Applications: Archery Applications for the Lake Georgetown 2021-2022 Archery Hunting Season will be accepted starting May 3, 2021. All applications must be turned in to the Lake Office no later than July 2, 2021 at 3:30 pm. Applications can be brought to or mailed to the Lake Georgetown Project Office at the address below. The project office will NOT accept applications by email this season. The $25 application fee will be waived for the 2021-2022 season, but will return for the 2022-2023 season.

DRAWING: The drawing for the 2021-2022 Archery Deer Hunt will take place on August 6, 2021. All applicants will receive an email notification after the drawing with their updated status. Five stand-by hunters will be drawn. If a drawn hunter fails to pick up their permits by the designated date, a stand-by hunter will be given the opportunity to take their place in the order in which they were drawn.
EXEMPTIONS: Hunters from the 2020-2021 season who harvested TWO mature does may be considered exempt for the 2021-2022 season. These hunters will still need to send in an application by the July 3rd deadline. They will be notified of their exemption after the drawing.
ORIENTATION: Dates TBD. Please check back later for more information. All hunters will be required to sign the Lake Georgetown 2020-2021 hunting Policy Form to verify that they have reviewed the orientation and hunting policies. Hunters will be expected to know and follow all rules and restrictions listed on these documents.
PERMIT PICK-UP: Drawn and exempt hunters will be able to pick up their permits at the Lake Georgetown Office. Please check back later for more information. The following will be required to receive your archery hunting permit:
- Proficiency Test with a score of 80% or higher
- Signed Hunting Policies
- $90.00 Hunting Fee (Must be paid by Credit Card Only at the Lake Office)

Small Game Hunting
New information coming in July 2020.
The Small Game Permit allows the holder to hunt dove, waterfowl, rabbit and squirrel during the season set by TPWD except during the white-tailed deer archery season. Small game hunting is permitted only in the General Hunting Area. Hunting quail, turkey, raccoons, bobcats, foxes, and coyotes is prohibited at this time. Small Game hunting is not allowed during Archrey Only season set by TPWD (September 29th-November 5th). Hunters must meet state hunter education requirements and a 2018-2019 TPWD hunting license. For more information on Small Game Permits please read the Lake Georgetown Hunting Policy. The Lake Georgetown Project Office will only issue 50 small game permits each season. Small game permits will be administered through an application and random drawing process. Small game permits are free of charge but a $25 application fee will be required to apply for the small game permit drawing. This fee is non-refundable and does not guarantee issuance of a permit.Â
Applications and proof of payment must be submitted by August 10, 2018 to be valid.

Proof of payment must be shown when submitting application. Payments for the application fee can be made at Cedar Breaks Park or Jim Hogg Park, Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm with credit card only. Cash and checks will not be accepted. Individuals must go to the gate house, pay the $25 application fee by credit card, and bring or submit the receipt to the office to complete the application.  Applications and payment receipts can be mailed to the project office. The Lake Georgetown Project Office is not responsible for lost applications and receipts sent by mail. Groups will not be drawn for small game permits with the exception of an adult supervising his or her children between ages 12-17. A parent may put up to two children between the ages of 12-17 with their application (complete an application for each child).  Â
