Volunteer Program

The Corps of Engineers at Bardwell Lake offers many volunteer opportunities in recreation and natural resource management. We are the stewards of 7,488 acres of land and water held in the public trust...held for YOU. You can make a difference by helping to ensure the wise use of these precious resources today and their conservation for tomorrow.

We need your help! As a volunteer, you can:

  • Work outdoors
  • Meet new people
  • Learn alongside knowledgeable professionals
  • achieve a proud sense of contributing to the future of the nation
  • Plus, it's just plain fun!

Making a Difference!!!

Leave a legacy by volunteering to preserve recreation and natural resources at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lakes.

Volunteers play vital role for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Bardwell Lake.  We are located near Ennis, Texas about 50 miles south of Dallas. We are far enough out of the city to provide a truly natural environment but close enough for a visit.  As a volunteer you will be part of a team that works together to conserve our nations recreation resources keeping valuable assets accessible to the public. In many cases, Volunteer Park Hosts, and Park Gate Attendants, are the first contact the public has with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Everyone can Leave a Legacy of Service

Anyone can volunteer at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facilities: Scout units, civic organizations, local businesses, youth centers, school groups, retirees and more. All of these volunteers assist us in building and maintaining our recreational facilities as well as developing natural areas where animals and plants can thrive.

You

can become part of the team and help us meet our missions for the nation. We need volunteers to water, mulch and prune trees in various Park areas remove of graffiti from recreational facilities, assist with Lake Shore Clean-Up, and repaint restrooms and many other construction maintenance tasks at Bardwell Lake.

Volunteers in past have planted wetland plants and trees to reduce shoreline erosion and provide shade in recreation areas. In April of 1998, community volunteers installed several wood duck boxes at the Buffalo Creek Wetland. They have also built and installed bat boxes and assisted us in the development of park maps.

If you are interested in a fun and challenging experience as a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Volunteer please contact Volunteer Coordinator Anthony Sanders by email or phone at 972-875-5711 for information about joining our team.
