Lake Information
The Laneport Dam (Granger Lake Dam) is located about ten miles northeast of Taylor, TX and seven miles east of Granger, TX in Williamson County. It is located at river mile 31.9 of the San Gabriel River. The purpose of the dam was for flood damage reduction, water conservation, fish and wildlife habitat, and general recreation.
Construction
Construction began in October of 1972, with the project being placed in operation on January 21, 1980.
Authority
Congressional Authority of the construction of Laneport Lake (Granger Lake) was originally contained in the Flood Control Act approved 3 September 1954.
