Deer hunting is illegal on Lavon Lake USACE property:

As part of Lavon Lake's Natural Resource Management plan our goal is to manage for a sustainable White Tail Deer population. At this time there is no biological data supporting a deer harvest for the management of a sustainable population. Until further notice deer hunting, harvesting, and taking by any means are illegal on Lavon Lake USACE property. We will continue to work with Texas Parks & Wildlife in efforts to quantify on-site populations and implement harvest criteria when supportable census data presents itself.

Permits: All hunters 17 years of age and older must obtain a permit. Hunters 16 and under are not required to obtain a permit, but must be with a permitted adult. All hunters hunting independently must have a permit, as well as hunter's education.

A CORPS HUNTING PERMIT IS REQUIRED.

General Information:

Not all areas of public land are clearly fenced or readily identified.  It is the hunter’s responsibility to become familiar with area boundaries to avoid trespassing onto private property adjacent to public land. Please contact the Corps of Engineers office of Lavon Lake at (972)442-3141 for assistance if needed.  All hunting zones have a 600 ft restriction from park areas or adjacent homes. In areas 6-13 on the Lavon Lake hunting map there is a 1000 feet buffer when using a shot gun.

Seasons/Bag Limits are set annually by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
