Group Camping Areas

Grapevine Lake offers group/organization camping at the Murrell Heritage Area at no charge in exchange for a service project. This area is for primitive camping only. A group/organization is defined as an administrative and functional structure (as a non-profit or business). To reserve camping a project plan must be submitted by the group/organization. A project plan consists of an acceptable natural resource protection plan, within the Grapevine Lake Project, to mitigate use of the sites for camping. Past projects include; shoreline clean up and campsite rehabilitation.Projects and reservations are submitted and approved through the Grapevine Lake Office. Project and reservation requests must be made no more than 4 weeks in advance and no less than 2 weeks prior to the requested use of the area.  Reservations are made after the completion of the service project. Concurrent weekends cannot be reserved by the same organization. If you have questions about group camping please call our office at (817) 865-2600 or send us an email.

If you do not wish to use the Murrell Heritage Area you may use the Murrell Simmons Area. Murrell Simmons (main park through gate house entry) is a primitive camping area within Murrell Park. Groups may pay to reserve these sites at Murrell Park on recreation.gov. Each site permits a maximum of 8 persons and 2 tents.
