Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers play vital role for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Benbrook Lake.  As a Volunteer, you will be part of a team that includes Volunteers, Service Contractors, Park Rangers, Maintenance, and Administration.  This team works together to conserve our national recreation resources and keep these valuable areas available to the public.

Park Ambassadors make public contact, dispense information and assist visitors. They may prepare and give interpretive talks to the visiting public. These volunteers assist rangers with tours, talks, or walks; update bulletin boards; and distribute interpretive materials. They can also help promote water safety through formal appearances and contacts within the parks; and perform minor maintenance.

Wildlife Management volunteers assist in beautification by planting flowers, mulching, weeding, watering, and maintaining visitor use areas.  They check and maintain various nesting box structures and replace, repair, build, and install new boxes as needed. Volunteers help maintain records of nesting habits and survey bird population. Other possible activities include preparing food plots and habitat management.
