Camping at Benbrook Lake

Benbrook Lake offers camping in several different park areas. Camping is permitted only at sites in the designated park campgrounds, and is not allowed in any other areas. Campsites with utility hookups are available in Holiday Park and Bear Creek Campground . Westcreek Cicrle offers primitive camping in a limited-development setting.

Each individual campsite is restricted to no more than eight persons and 1 RV (motorhome, travel trailer, pop-up camper, etc.). Number of tents is not limited, provided they stay within the limits of the campsite. Vehicles parked at a campsite should not exceed the physical limitations of the site. Overflow parking areas are provided in each park for extra vehicles.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' parks are governed by regulations contained in Section 327 of Title 36 to the Code of Federal Regulations.

Sections

Tents

Pitch your tent on an impact area or directly on the ground. Please do not dig trenches in the ground or place pegs into blacktop or paved surfaces.

Lanterns

Hanging gas or propane lanterns on trees can kill or seriously damage them. Help us preserve the natural beauty of our parks by hanging lanterns on posts built for that purpose or in another safe place away from the trees.

Night Entry/Exit of Parks

Campgrounds have controlled entrance gates that are closed to incoming traffic between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. If you return to the park after 10 p.m., please park you car at the gate and walk in, of have someone inside the park shuttle you to your campsite. Entering through the one-way exit gates may be cause for a citation.

Length of Stay

The maximum stay at one or all of the parks at any one lake is fourteen days in any thirty-day period. Extensions may be available with permission of the Lake Manager in certain circumstances.

Check-Out Time

The check-out time for campers is 2 p.m. After that time, campers should either have left the park, or paid the fee for the next night.

Campsite Reservations

Reservations can be made for selected federal recreation facilities of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers by calling toll-free 1-877-444-6777 or by accessing Recreation One Stop at the link below.

Firearms/Fireworks

For your safety and the safety of others, firearms, ammunition and fireworks may not be brought into or used in any park area. Hunting is permitted only in designated areas and only with a permit from the Lake Office. Click here to view Hunting Information .

Fires

Please confine fires to grills, fireplaces or other areas provided for this purpose.

Noise

Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. every night. Excessively loud vehicles or motorized equipment are prohibited in the parks. In consideration of all park users, we ask that volumes be kept low when using radios, televisions or similar devices.

Pets and animals

Pets must be on a leash less than six feet in length or physically restrained in some other manner. This will help protect your pet from other animals. Livestock is prohibited in all recreation areas, excepting horses that are permitted only on the Horseback and Nature trail and associated areas.

Day Use Activities, Picnicking and Fishing

The campgrounds at Benbrook Lake are for camping activities only. Picnicking, bank fishing and other day use activities are available in other parks around the lake.  Campgrounds are restricted to paid campers, or trail users.
